Namaste

Namaste
I bow to that which is holy in you.
I bow to that which shines, which makes me smile.
I bow to that which hurts, which loves, your laugh, your cry.
And I bow to that which hurts me, confuses me.
I wish I could be there forever.

Namaste,
I bow to all that you are.

Enjoying Hershey's Bars

If you're going to eat a Hershey's Bar, enjoy it.

If you decide to fast, be proud of your decision.

If you decide to take a second job to afford that trip, house, etc..., then do so cleanly.

Life is too short to second guess or do anything halfheartedly. Take the time to understand your choices and their consequences, then do your best.  When you learn better, do better.  No need in beating yourself up.

Listen Frequently

I feel happy when I listen to instrumental jazz, specifically Pat Metheny, so I listen frequently.  Doesn't have to be another reason.  It brings me joy.

Sometimes I think we (I) overthink life.  Being happy is easy when we don't make ourselves miserable.  Get rid of the junk, be clear, and live life.  Joy is natural when you remove the misery.

Touched

The entire world is available to us at our fingertips - cell phone, internet, television.  It really can be a blessing (or a curse), but with so much information and entertainment (distraction) available, is anything special?   Do we take the time to savor or do we just jump from one thing to the next without delving below the surface?

Take the time to savor life.  Let it have meaning.  Without meaning life becomes mechanical and rote.

Be touched.

Example

Our children learn by example.  If you smoke, chances are they will smoke at some point in their lives.  Knowing this, how much sense does your strategy of suffering for your children make?

Let them know that you love them, but show them that you value your own life.  Talking about joy doesn't teach them joy.  Set the example.  They are watching.
