Woke up in the middle of the night with no idea who I was. Only consciousness - no identity, no age, no birthday.
Annie was next to me when morning came. A cup of coffee and a smile. Fifty-one.
Listened to some of my favorite music, got a few birthday wishes, and ate some eggs.
Put on a gift - no uniform today.
Packed my lunch in a paper bag, kissed my wife good-bye, not the dog.
My birthday wishes for myself:
More quiet, less noise.
Deeper relationships with more trust and understanding.
More presence, less distraction.
More flow, less resistance.
More patience, less frustration.
More gratitude, less craving.
Off to work. Blessings to you all.
For as long as space endures
And for as long as living beings remain
Until then may I too abide
To dispel the misery of the world.
