Pride and Pride
When we speak of pride, there are two very distinct things we may be referring to; one is a wolf in sheep's clothing.
True pride shines bright - I am proud of the job that I do, I'm proud of my son's performance last night, I am proud of ...
Dark pride (shame) lurks beneath a false cover - I've got too much pride(SHAME) to ask for help, I've got too much pride to admit I was wrong. The problem is that shame thrives in the dark. Hiding behind false pride enables shame to grow like a dark fungus eating away at our soul. We wear our dark pride as tough exteriors, never exposing our wounds and doubts, not knowing that sun and fresh air are the very things that would heal them.
